Advancing Statistical Methods for Reliability Studies
AlbPhD Circle is pleased to congratulate Dr. Jezerca Hodaj on the successful completion of her PhD in Applied Statistics at Oakland University.
Her doctoral research, titled “Subset Selection Procedures for Populations Following Weibull Distributions,” addressed the challenge of identifying the most reliable populations or systems when working with lifetime and reliability data. Her work developed both frequentist and Bayesian statistical approaches for selecting groups of populations that are likely to include the best-performing one, particularly in situations where observations may be incomplete or censored.
An important part of her research involved evaluating the performance and efficiency of these statistical procedures and applying the Bayesian approach to a semi-simulated alloy reliability study. The findings offer a useful framework for comparing populations under uncertainty, with potential relevance to reliability engineering, manufacturing, materials science, and other fields concerned with system durability and performance.
Throughout her PhD journey, Jezerca has also built expertise in statistical modeling, Bayesian methodology, reliability and survival analysis, simulation, and statistical computing, alongside practical experience with R, SAS, data analysis, visualization, and clinical trial methodology.
With her doctoral studies now completed, Jezerca is looking forward to applying her statistical expertise in biostatistics, statistics, data science, and quantitative research. She is particularly interested in opportunities that bring together statistical methodology, programming, and practical problem-solving.
